Textile lifting slings, or fiber ropes, are considered the oldest and best-known lifting slings. They are manufactured by stranding, braiding, or sheathing laid individual fibers. Webbing slings are made by sewing woven webbing made of polyester, polyamide, or polypropylene fibers. Webbing slings have a high load-bearing capacity relative to their own weight and, due to their material properties, protect the surface of the load being lifted or moved. Round slings, on the other hand, consist of a woven thread within a tube and are characterized by their flexibility. Polyester webbing slings and round slings are identifiable by a blue label. Due to significant differences in strength, it is necessary to clearly color-code the various types. National and international standards define the different colors. For ropes with a diameter of 16 mm or more, in addition to the color coding, further marking with information about the manufacturer and year of manufacture is required.
